Fernando Medina

Mayor of Lisbon is Fernando Medina. He was born in Porto in 1973. He graduated from the university there, gaining a master's degree in Economy. His political career started in the Socialist Party. He was elected mayor of Lisbon in 2015. His development program for the city includes improvement of the quality of life in the capital, as well as preserving the environment. Future plans include the ban of vehicles in the city center by 2050. There are also planned investments in the city's public transportation network and improving the system, which includes obtaining of 250 new buses, as well as hiring 200 drivers. A key issue is also the establishment of new parking areas close to the city center and public transport stops. The creation of more convenient bicycle infrastructure is also under rapid development.
