Rui Marqueiro

The mayor of Mealhada Rui Marqueiro was born in 1952 in Ermesinde. From an early age he embraced the municipality of Mealhada, having joined in 1958 Escola Primária de Antes (municipality of Mealhada), a parish where he lives until now. He holds a degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto.

In 1989 he was elected Mayor of Mealhada, where he served until 1999, when he was elected Deputy of the Assembly of the Republic. From 2001 to 2013 he served as President and Vice-President at the Center for Studies and Local Government in Coimbra. In 2013 he was elected Mayor of Mealhada again, where he is in charge now.
