Mark Silveira

Mayor of São Roque do Pico is Mark Silveira. He was born on 6 December 1976, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA.   

Son of Azoreans from Pico Island who decided to emigrate to the USA in 1968 and returned to Pico in 1982. He completed his entire school studies in the Azores, attending the Secondary School currently called Escola Básica e Secundária de São Roque do Pico.

He holds a degree in Biology/Geology from Universidad dos Açores, graduating in 2001. He has worked as a teacher in several schools in the Azores.

In December 2008 Mr Silveira assumed the functions of Delegate for Pico Island at the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Transport. Since October 2013, Mark Silveira has been the Mayor of São Roque do Pico.
