Born in Santarém on July 19, 1975, Ricardo Gonçalves Ribeiro Gonçalves is a proud husband and father of two children. Graduated in Economics from Lusíada University of Lisbon and post graduated in Local Government Law from the University of Lisbon, Ricardo Gonçalves has been the Mayor of Santarém since 2012. Before that he was Financial Consultant from 1999 to 2006, Councilor of Santarém City from 2006 to 2012, Parish Council President of Azoia de Baixo and member of the Municipal Assembly of Santarém from 2002 and 2005.
During his early years he served on the board of several local collectivities and youth associations. Currently he is board member of several public enterprises and Public Institutions, contributing with his work both locally and nationwide.
A key factor of his development program for the city of Santarém has been the financial consolidation and sustainability of the City Hall. Nowadays the effort is more targeted towards Urban Regeneration, Economic Development and Tourism.
Ricardo Gonçalves is distinctly a people’s person and his life has been shaped by a deep commitment to the public service.
