Maria das Dores Meira

Mayor of Setúbal is Maria das Dores Meira. She was born on 13 September 1956 in Lisbon.

She is a lawyer specialized in industrial law and intellectual property, an area in which she completed a postgraduate course and in which she developed, from a very young age, intense business activity.

Between 2002 and 2006 she held the position of councilor, covering the areas of culture, education, youth, social inclusion and sport.

In 2014 she was awarded Commander of the Civil Merit Order by the President of the Portuguese Republic.

She was an official Industrial Property agent at the National Institute of Industrial Property and a representative of the World Property Organization. From 2016 to 2018 she was President of the MBBW - Most Beautiful Bays in the World.

Maria das Dores Meira has been mayor of Setúbal since September 2006. She is responsible for the areas of General Administration and Finances, Tourism, Urban Image and Rehabilitation, Information and Communication, Participatory Democracy, Strategic Planning, Administrative Organization and Modernization, International Relations and Urbanism.
