Mayor of Alba Iulia is Voicu Paul. He was born on 17 December 1962 in Sandra – Timiş County. He is married and has two children.
In 1980 he graduated the „Horea, Cloșca și Crișan” College in Alba Iulia. In 1985 he completed his studies at Polytechnic Institute of Timișoara – The Mechanics Faculty obtaining a degree in engineering.
After a few months of teaching at Teiuș College, a town near Alba Iulia, Mr. Voicu Paul started his professional career as a specialist engineer and attained the position of Technical Director within several companies as Termorep Hunedoara, CT Zona, Albanic Service, Simodor Service and Florea Oil.
In the middle of 90's Mr Voicu Paul took his first steps in public administration. He was elected as Deputy Mayor of Alba Iulia Municipality, initially for a four-year mandate, between 1996 – 2000. In 2005 he was again re-elected as Deputy Mayor and since then he has worked within Alba Iulia City Hall.
During all these years he took responsibilities in managing key departments of the City Hall: sustainable urban development, public infrastructure, and human resources. He also managed cross-functional teams of specialists responsible for creating strategies in order to assure the long-term sustainable development of Alba Iulia.
In July 2019 Mr Voicu Paul was elected by Alba Iulia City Council as Deputy Mayor with Mayor`s prerogatives until the local election will be held in Romania.
