Mayor of Iasi is Mihai Chirica. He was born on 1 September 1971 in Iasi. In April 2012, he joined the Social Democratic Party, the Iasi branch, and was elected to its lists as municipal councilor. After the establishment of the Local Council in which he was elected, this Council appointed him as one of the deputy mayors of the municipality.
From 2013 until 2017 he was president of the PSD Municipal Organization of Iasi. On 25 May 2015, Chirica was elected to serve as interim mayor prior to his election as mayor in the 2016 elections.
Now he is member and President of the Municipal Organisation of National Liberal Party. On 27 September 2020, Mihai Chirica was re-elected mayor of Iasi.
