Dominic Fritz

Dominic Fritz was elected Mayor of Timișoara in the autumn of 2020. He is a German citizen and one of the few European citizens to hold a mayoral office outside of their native country.

In 2009, he worked at the German Agency for International Cooperation as an advisor. During his tenure there, he helped to improve better management procedures in the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in Liberia and took part in two German government humanitarian missions in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. He has also assisted in peace negotiations between several African countries. Between 2016-and 2019, he was former President Köhler's Chief of Staff.

Mayor Fritz first came to Timișoara in 2003 at the initiative of priest and humanitarian Berno Rupp and has visited the city many times in the following years.
