Mayor of Stropkov is Ondrej Brendza. He was born on 24 September 1973.
He graduated from elementary school and grammar school in Stropkov. From 1992 to 1997 he studied at the Faculty of Law of the Pavel Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
From August 1997 he worked at the Administration of the Real Estate Cadastre in Stropkov, where from 1998 to 2013 he held the position of director. After the transformation in 2014 he was the head of the cadastral department of the District Office.
Brendza started his career as a football referee in 1992, and from 2010 to 2016 he was an international assistant referee at FIFA. He is also active in the football movement - since 2002 he has been the chairman of the Ondava Regional Football Association.
From 2010 to 2014, he was a member of the city council. As an independent candidate, he was first elected mayor of Stropkov on 15 November 2014 and defended his mandate on 10 November 2018.
Ondrej Brendza is married and has two children. He speaks English and Russian. His hobbies include sports, history and travel.
