Mayor of Celje is Bojan Šrot. He was born in 1960. He finished primary and secondary school in Celje and graduated from the University of Ljubljana (Faculty of Law) in 1985. As a student he was an active alpinist and enjoyed a status of a top athlete. He was a member of several alpinist expeditions, including three in Himalaya and Karakorum.
