Mayor of Krško is Miran Stanko. He was born on 28 March 1956.
He is a civil engineer and Bachelor of Economics with a master's degree in business and informatics. He has been employed as a civil engineer in a construction company for 14 years. In 1990 he established his own company Hermes in Krško, which deals with business informatics and IT technology development and business consulting.
In the period 1998 - 2002 Miran Stanko was a member of the Management Board of the Krško Nuclear power plant. In the years 2006 - 2009 he was a member of the Supervisory Board of GEN energija.
Stanko also served on the Supervisory Board of the Fund for the Financing of the Decommissioning of the Krško Nuclear power plant and for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste from the Krško NPP for two terms.
From 1998 to 2010, Stanko served on the SLS list as a municipal councilor for three terms. He was first elected as a mayor in March 2012 in the by-election, then in October 2014, and most recently in November 2018.
