Luis Barcala Sierra
The current mayor of Alicante is Luis Barcala Sierra. He holds the post since April 2019 and has been re-elected in 2019.
His studies include a Law degree from the University of Alicante, a Master's Degree in Foreign Trade from the University of Alicante, a Postgraduate Master in Business Labor Consultancy (CEREM-Madrid). He holds also a Master's degree in High Specialization in Banking Law and a Diploma from the School of Legal Practice of Alicante.
He has been a lawyer in practice since 1990. Between 1999-2001 he was a Regional Manager of the Recovery of Buildings and Real Estate Bank, Councillor of the City Council of Alicante from September 2011 to 2015. From December 2013 to June 2015 he was Councilor for Health, Consumption and Environment. He is a Lieutenant Mayor. In 2019 he was elected Mayor of Alicante.
