Núria Marín i Martínez was born in L'Hospitalet in 1963 in the neighbourhood of La Torrassa and still lives there. She has been mayor of L'Hospitalet since 2008.
With a diploma in business sciences, she joined the City Hall of L'Hospitalet as a civil servant in 1985. From 1995 to 1999 she oversaw the Treasury Department and the Department of Collblanc-la Torrassa. In 1999 she was appointed First Deputy Mayor and took over the Department of Economy and Finance. In 2007 she became first Deputy Mayor responsible for Planning, Coordination and the Economy.
On April 19, 2008 she was appointed Mayor of the city and was re-elected to the post in 2011, 2015 and 2019.
Núria Marín is also President of the Diputación de Barcelona since July 2019. She presides over the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI) and is vice-president of the Urban Assembly of Catalonia. She is also President of the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC), first secretary of the PSC Federation of L'Hospitalet, member of the National Council of the party, in which she has been active since 1981, and secretary of Cohesion and Integration of the Executive of the PSOE. Previously, she had been a member of the Socialist Youth of Catalonia
