Alicante encourages outdoor activities around Easter

Show of support for businesses offering these type of activities

The City of Alicante does not want its residents to stay holed up home during Easter week so it has devised a programme of open-air activities that can be done together with family members. The local Tourism Board is working with organizations and enterprises which offer such activities in order to promote them as a safe and healthy leisure option during the first days of April.

From yoga to photo contests

Mari Carmen Sánchez, the Alicante Councillor for Tourism, has expressed the ambition of her administration to help out companies that offer choices for physical activities outdoors, including hiking, cycling or sailing. The idea, in particular, is to promote lesser-known places in the municipality.

For example, there will be guided visits to the Castle of San Fernando to learn about its history and restoration. Those will be offered between 1 and 11 April in the evenings (5:30 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm).

Or how about the Serra Grossa urban path? This tour will take visitors to explore vestiges of old defensive buildings and heritage from the Spanish Civil War in combination with an explanation about the local flora and fauna. These will be offered between 1 and 10 April, from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Children can attend magic tricks workshop at the Castillo de Santa Barbara or another one that will teach them to fly kites at the San Juan beach. Adults, on the other hand, can look forward to meaningful yoga sessions located in a beautiful spot under a pergola near the coconut grove on Postiguet beach.

Likewise, the Tourism Board is organizing two contests in order to boost participation and awareness. On its social media channels, it will seek the best photo of a typical Easter dessert and the best choreography shot at an Alicante location on TikTok.

All these and other activities can be consulted on the official website of the Alicante Tourism Board.
