Poznan’s Visual Park goes online

You can now enjoy the works of contemporary artists from any corner of the world

For several years now, the Visual Pak of Poznan has been inviting locals and tourists to explore a spectacular collection of contemporary pieces of art, amidst the greenery. In line with the digitalization efforts of the Polish city, as of last month, this open-air gallery by Lake Strzeszyński has been made available to everyone regardless of their location, thanks to a 360 degrees visualisation.

The Visual Park is a rare phenomenon in the Polish world of art

The Visual Park was born in 2012 as a place that allows a wide audience to experience art in the open air, beyond the walls of a gallery or a museum. While such venues are common in Western Europe, they are still rare in Poland, informs the website of ABC Gallery, which stands behind the project.

Currently, 16 objects are part of the park’s collection and their number is set to grow to 30. All of them are the works of contemporary artists and are equipped with boards containing questions provoking the viewer to explore the possible meanings of individual works.

As of last month, the park has opened to an even wider audience, by going online. All art installations have been included in a virtual tour, thanks to 360-degree photo technology.

In addition, the objects are accompanied by videos with statements from the artists, which puts the work in context and greatly enhances the understanding. Furthermore, the recordings are also translated into sign language making them accessible to the hearing impaired.

The collection is constantly growing. So far, we have managed to recruit very interesting artists with recognized achievements. These include Maurycy Gomulicki, Jarosław Fliciński, Sławomir Brzoska, Robert Kuśmirowski, Bartosz Kokosiński, Sławomir Sobczak,” explained Katarzyna Jankowiak-Gumna, who is the curator of the Poznań Visual Park and owner of ABC Gallery.
