Three projects have been planned to showcase the future of urban living
Join us for the 1st seminar, part of the EUDIGIT - European Digital Citizens project, online on 25-26 February
The Cities of Varna and Marseille, in partnership with TheMayor.EU are pleased to invite you to their webinar: “The youth, the digital divide and citizenship”. This open and free event will take place online on 25-26 February.
The event is the first of a series of six seminars under the European project EUDIGIT – European Digital Citizens, which has set as objectives the bridging of the digital gap in cities, strengthening the sense of EU citizenship and co-building digital policies with citizens.
25 February: 10:00-17:15 EET / 09:00-16:15 CET
The first day will feature the opening where participants will hear more about the EUDIGIT project, a partnership between six EU cities against the digital divide and for the promotion of digital citizenship. You will also learn how you can contribute to the debate or get involved in future project activities.
Panel 1 will explore the connections between the youth, the digital divide and citizenship in depth with a special emphasis on the Digital Education Action Plan for 2021-2027. The panel features presentations by EU and local policymakers.
In Panel 2 you will have the unique opportunity to get practical insight into what works in terms of bridging the digital divide as experienced by young people and by the cities, which are part of the EUDIGIT network. Marseille (France), Rotterdam (The Netherlands), Genoa (Italy), Varna (Bulgaria), Hamburg (Germany) and Cluj-Napoca (Romania) will each present successful local initiatives to that end.
In two afternoon sessions, young people from each city will have the floor to share the challenges they face and the solutions they see on COVID-19, education, career opportunities and digital divide and on Civic engagement and digital divide.
26 February: 10:00 – 12:30 EET (09:00-11:30 CET)
The second day will start with Panel 3: Europe recovering from the crisis: The role of the youth, featuring presentations by international experts from academia, NGOs and business sectors.
If you have missed the youth session from the day before, the second day is your chance to get a summary on the main takeaways.
