The Mayor of Giurgiu is Adrian Anghelescu. He was born on 20 August 1967 in Giurgiu.
He attended high school at the “Ion Maiorescu” National College (class of 1985) and completed his higher education at the "Aurel Vlaicu" Military Aviation Institute (class of 1993). After graduation, he took a series of professional courses abroad - in cities such as Stockholm, Zurich, Toulouse and Frankfurt.
Between 1993 and 2000, he worked for Jaro Internațional S.A., which was the first private aviation company in Romania. From 2000 to 2001, he worked for another private airline, Carpatair. From 2001 until 2020, he was a pilot-in-command on an Airbus aircraft for the Romanian national carrier TAROM.
On 27 September 2020, Adrian Anghelescu was elected mayor of Giurgiu.
