Amsterdam bans creation of new hotels
Another piece in the overall strategy to reduce tourist flows to the city
The new tourist service will become available this weekend
Czech Airlines have announced a special tourist service, targeting local citizens aiming to help them rediscover their own capital. A series of adventure flights starting this weekend will take a small number of passengers on a sightseeing flight above Prague. The tickets cost CZK 1,490 (55 euros) and sales have already started.
The flag carrier of Czechia will be repeating its campaign from two years ago, when on the occasion of the company's 95th anniversary they offered low-level flights over Prague. This year once more a number of adventure flights with 70 passengers each will allow the locals to rediscover the beauties of their own country from a bird's-eye perspective.
The first flights will take off on Saturday 11 July at 2 pm and Sunday 12 July at 10 am with the potential for new dates to be added, should the service record high interest. The ticket price of 1,490 korunas includes all fees and taxes. Tickets can only be purchased at csa.cz.
Passengers will have the opportunity to experience flights with the symbolic number OK 97 - symbolic due to the fact that CSA is turning 97 in 2020. The ATR 72 turboprop aircraft will take off from Terminal 3 of Václav Havel Prague Airport and the entirety of the flight will take about 30-40 minutes and will be piloted by veteran captains.
The route will take on the form of a sightseeing circuit around Prague, which will lead over the castles Křivoklát, Točník, Karlštejn or Český Šternberk, around the castles Zbiroh, Konopiště or Kostelec nad Černými Lesy, through the Slapy and Klíčava reservoirs, around the Sázava monastery and the Ondřejov observatory and other famous sites. The aircraft will fly to the lower limit of the controlled airspace which corresponds to an altitude of approximately 800 meters above the ground.
The initiative celebrates the opening of Runway Park at Václav Havel Airport which took place earlier this month. It certainly is a great way for Czech citizens to break away from the social isolation measures that were put in place forcing them to stay home for weeks on end without access to any travel experiences.
