This service will be available for people who want to use municipal sports facilities
The Alcorcon City Council reported that it is planning to launch a programme that will provide useful data on the physiological condition of local residents following months of lockdowns and confinement. This will be available to people who would like to register and use the municipal sports facilities. After their condition has been evaluated a personalized exercise programme will be designed for them to take place in a mainly outdoor context.
The authorities in the city, located in the southern periphery of the Madrid metropolitan area, stated that the test programme itself will have a duration of one month during which time the focus will be on the collection of data. The way this will work is that people who would like to register for sports activities will undergo a series of vital statistics measurements, such as their blood pressure levels, pulse rates, weight, strength and endurance.
“This program can give us an idea of the health status of our users after the pandemic and the months of confinement; especially of the most vulnerable groups, the elderly, one of the most important groups at the level of users in our sports facilities,” said Natalia de Andrés, the mayor of Alcorcon.
She also added that this will be equally available to those who had suffered from Covid-19 as well as to those who had not with a view to providing a personalized and adapted exercise routine.
The exercise programme itself, it was reported, would take place mainly outdoors, for a variety of beneficial reasons, and it is expected to happen between April and June, with a possible extension into July. The green spaces that are available in the city will be the preferred spot for such exercises.
