Amazon opens 3 new offices in Romania

Amazon will provide 500 new job opportunities for Romanians in Timişoara and Iași

The American multinational technology company, Amazon, has announced the opening of three new offices in Romania – one in Timişoara and two in Iași. This will expand the company's services in Europe and bring new job opportunities to Romanians.

3 new offices and 3 000 jobs

So far, 2,500 jobs have been created and 500 more are expected to help expand Amazon’s operations in Romania.

For the second quarter of the year, the plan is to open the first office, which will focus on the Amazon Devices line and will be the place where new products and services will be developed and launched.

The first office in Iasi will open at the end of the year on the current campus and will be the first to host the Retail Business Support department - which ensures that Amazon products and their availability are optimised for customers.

The last office is planned to open in 2023, in Palas Campus in Iași, where an entirely local team will be hired.

The General Manager of Amazon Romania, Octavian Tanase stated: "We are very happy to open the new offices and add 500 more jobs in Timisoara and Iasi. The new offices come with many opportunities for software and operations professionals who will have the chance to innovate and improve our products and services that support Amazon customers around the world. In the future, our growing teams will benefit from modern office buildings with the best quality facilities and improved collaboration and support. We are delighted that we can continue our investments in Romania and proud of the impact we have in Timişoara, Iași and Bucharest by recruiting the best professionals in the country and in the world."

The first Romanian Amazon office opened in 2005 and was the first R&D facility in Eastern Europe. To date, more than 100 million euros have been invested in Romania by the company.
