The Cypriot municipality will invest 30 million euro in redeveloping parks in the coastal area
The municipality’s vision is Ayia Napa to become the best resort in the Mediterranean by 2030. For this reason, the municipality will invest 30 million euro in redeveloping parks in the coastal area, the amphitheatre, the Cultural Centre and to transform the Mediaeval Castle into a museum.
The Cypriot municipality already has new online platform “Always Ayia Napa”, an interactive guide for tourists. Through the platform, Ayia Napa visitors can find information about local attractions, hotels, beaches, services and events and review them on their own, Mayor Yiannis Karousos said. His goal is “Always Ayia Napa” to be followed by tens of thousands of people.
Via online promotion, Ayia Napa has managed to attract visitors and travel agencies that previously did not show interest in the area. For example, Karousos noted, the municipality has struck a deal with a German travel agency which will bring 40,000 tourists. The mayor added that “2018 has been the best year for Ayia Napa in regards to tourism, arrivals, income and accommodation.” The municipality had a 3 million euro budget surplus this year, with income from tourism reaching 18 million euro. Next year, Ayia Napa is projecting a 3,6 million euro budget surplus and 19.2.million euro in revenue.
