Mercabarna es el mercado mayorista de productos alimenticios de Barcelona. Ubicado estratégicamente en la Zona Franca de la ciudad, cerca del Puerto y Aeropuerto, es uno de los puntos de suministro más grandes de su tipo en toda Europa.
Cada día, unos 14 000 vehículos circulan por sus instalaciones. Por eso no es de extrañar que hoy también haya sido elegido como el lugar donde se iba a probar una prueba piloto para la aplicación de un sistema de alerta de colisión de tráfico, y como informa la web oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya, con éxito.
El sistema de alerta piloto incluye componentes de navegación que se instalaron en un montacargas y en una bicicleta. La prueba en sí se refería a la capacidad de comunicación de dichos dispositivos, ambos conectados a la red 5G.
Los resultados concluyeron que el envío y la recepción de datos y mensajes a través de esta red mostró una latencia muy reducida, es decir, el retraso en la velocidad de transmisión. Los dos vehículos también fueron equipados con otro dispositivo que combina el posicionamiento de geolocalización con sistemas autónomos inerciales que miden medidas de aceleración, rotación y distancia.
Cuando el sistema calculó y detectó un riesgo inminente de colisión en función de la velocidad y la trayectoria, envió una señal de advertencia para notificar a uno de los dos vehículos del peligro inminente.
Uno de los funcionarios presentes en la manifestación fue el consejero de Políticas Digitales de Cataluña, Jordi Puigneró. Comentó que “lo que presentamos hoy es un piloto que nos permite anticiparnos al impacto de la tecnología 5G en diferentes ámbitos de nuestra sociedad mientras contribuimos al impulso de una nueva industria tecnológica de valor agregado”.
“También es el punto de partida de una alianza entre Mercabarna y el Departamento de Políticas Digitales para sumar sinergias en la promoción de tecnologías digitales avanzadas y acelerar la transformación digital de esta infraestructura estratégica (Mercabarna) para la economía y la sociedad catalanas”, ha concluido el consejero.
