La iniciativa llamará hogar al icónico Estadio Olímpico de la ciudad
Barcelona tendrá su primera incubadora de empresas que trabajan e innovan para la tecnología del deporte. El nuevo espacio, que se enmarca en el proyecto Barcelona Sports Hub, se ubicará en la fachada sur del Estadio Olímpico de Montjuïc.
Para ello se ha destinado un presupuesto de 2,8 millones de euros, que se destinarán a la rehabilitación de la antigua zona de oficinas del estadio.
El espacio dedicado, de 1.100 metros cuadrados, contará con un área de preincubación, hasta 12 módulos de trabajo interconectables, salas de reuniones y ambientes de uso común para los profesionales que allí trabajan. Las oficinas también quieren aprovechar un espacio de 400 metros cuadrados para organizar encuentros al aire libre y fomentar el networking entre las start-ups.
Las obras de transformación comenzarán en verano de este año y concluirán en el primer semestre de 2023. Una vez esté listo, el vivero se convertirá en la primera instalación física del nuevo Barcelona Sports Hub, que pretende convertir la capital catalana un referente internacional en el sector tecnológico dedicado al deporte.
Sin embargo, no debe confundirse con el Barcelona Sports Tech Hub, un acuerdo firmado entre el Gobierno regional (Generalitat) y la asociación Barcelona Sportstech HUB23 en abril de 2021, que también ha comenzado a acelerar proyectos para empresas emergentes.
La capital catalana es una ciudad que dibuja fácilmente asociaciones con el mundo del deporte, ya sea con el club de fútbol homónimo, que es uno de los símbolos de la ciudad, o los míticos Juegos Olímpicos, que sirvieron para rejuvenecer la ciudad en 1992.
El Estadio Olímpico en sí fue construido en 1929, conservando su fachada original de esa época, aunque su interior ha sido modernizado varias veces. Ahora también sirve como sede del segundo club de fútbol más grande de la ciudad: el Espanyol.
