Over 30 federations and sports clubs will present their activities during the Sports Village and the Night of Sports, as part of the European Week of Sports in Bulgaria #BeActive. The event will take place on 25 September in the space in front of the National Palace of Culture.
After 3 pm, visitors will be able to see demonstrations, receive information materials and learn about different sports - athletics, basketball, wrestling, boxing, rhythmic gymnastics, aerobics, handball, arm wrestling, fencing, sports dancing, breakdancing and others.
The Night of Sports will start at 6 pm with the participation of Minister of Youth and Sports Andrey Kuzmanov and the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel. Boryana Kaleyn, European vice-champion in rhythmic gymnastics and Ivaylo Ivanov, silver medalist of European judo championships will also attend the ceremony.
During the events, a number of activities will take place, such as climbing the facade of the National Palace of Culture, orienteering, stage demonstrations and ballooning.
In 2021, the motto of the European Sports Week is "It's time to be active again, nothing can stop you", with initiatives to be held in Sofia, Montana, Vidin and Vratsa. The campaign aims to support the personal development of young people and support their sport’s needs.
#BeActive is part of the European Commission's initiative to promote sport and physical activity among EU citizens. The National Coordinator for Bulgaria is the Ministry of Sport, co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
