La nouvelle majorité du conseil local de Wavre a fermement décidé de mettre fin à la litière publique dans la ville. Dans une déclaration politique de mardi, les autorités locales ont à nouveau soulevé la question, suscitant des débats controversés. La maire Françoise Pigeolet a souligné que des sommes considérables du budget municipal sont consacrées au nettoyage, mais en vain. À l'instar de nombreuses autres villes, les actes d'incivilité tels que le déversement d'ordures ménagères et la promenade d'animaux domestiques hors des lieux désignés ne sont pas rares. Les conseillers locaux considèrent qu'il est essentiel que chaque citoyen assume sa part de responsabilité et que de cette manière, il sera possible d'améliorer la qualité de la vie.
Les conseilleurs se sont donc fixés pour objectif de durcir la politique de poursuite des incivilités au cours du mandat récemment engagé. Appelant à davantage de vigilance parmi les citoyens, les autorités locales ont clairement lancé une campagne contre les déchets publics et ont promis des sanctions plus sévères au cours des prochains mois, parmi d'autres mesures.
