Biržai encourages citizens to create a short film in less than a week

Organizers want everyone to be able to participate in the Lithuanian city's film festival

With the Biržai short film festival just around the corner, organizers are appealing to everyone to create their own movie. By simply using their smartphone, or whatever other camera they have at hand, citizens of the world will have the opportunity to have their works of art presented during the event. Some might even win prizes.

"This festival is unique in that we believe that cinema is much more than a profession and an education, and therefore we invite everyone who loves cinema to create a movie of up to 5 minutes and send it to us. And especially we invite you to do it in Biržai,”, stated the organizers while issuing their appeal.

While the final submissions deadline is literally just a few days away, organizers want to encourage people not to be shy and to let loose their creative spirits. Who knows what participants will come up with when they have only a couple of days of filming?

Eager participants can submit their short movies into two categories – international and local. Films made away from Biržai will fall into the former category, while films made around and near the city will fall into the latter. Organizers further emphasize that the actual technical quality of the final products is not what’s important – rather the focus of the movies should be on their message and meaning and on the creation of something positive for all communities.
