Celebrate the National Tulip Day this Saturday at Amsterdam's Dam Square

Every year, the start of a new tulip season is celebrated on the 3rd Saturday of January

National Tulip Day, known in Dutch as Nationale Tulpendag, is the official launch of the tulip season. Every year, on the third Saturday of January, Amsterdam's Dam Square is filled with approximately 200 000 tulips and about 10 000 people visit this occasion.

Everyone is invited to come and pick a bouquet (up to 15 flowers). Admission to the tulip picking garden starts at 1 pm. The garden closes when the flowers are all picked. The theme for 2019 is Flower Power!

The National Tulip Day in Amsterdam is only one day, but if you are a fan of tulips, make sure to visit the Amsterdam flower market in Singel (the only floating flower market in the world) and the Keukenhof garden which will open from March 21st till May 19th.
