O objectivo deste projecto consiste em preservar a memória das distintas comunidades e identidades que viveram na região - Cristianismo, Judaísmo e Islamismo
O Centro de Dialogo Intercultural de Leiria (CDIL) recebeu mais de 17 mil visitantes ao longo do seu primeiro ano de atividade. Entre 26 de julho de 2017, data de abertura ao público, e 22 de julho de 2018 o total de visitantes ascende a 17.745, distribuídos entre os dois polos deste centro - Igreja da Misericórdia e Casa dos Pintores. Para o vereador da Cultura na Câmara Municipal de Leiria, Gonçalo Lopes, estes números apoiam o objetivo do projeto para ter um impacto estrutural neste região. A ambição de que o CDIL se assuma como uma referência na programação cultural no concelho, em especial no âmbito da candidatura de Leiria a Capital Europeia da Cultura em 2027.
No primeiro ano de funcionamento foram inúmeras a atividades culturais desenvolvidas no CDIL, em que se destacam a Festa dos Museus, Dia Internacional dos Museus, Festival Música e Dança de Leiria "Beira Rio" e Festival “A Porta”. Para a constituição deste espaço museológico foram investidos mais de 570 mil euros no restauro da antiga igreja da Misericórdia e projeto museológico. Com um objetivo cultural, ecuménico e turístico, o Centro de Diálogo Intercultural pretende interpretar a presença, ao longo dos séculos, de três importantes religiões em Leiria. O objectivo deste projecto consiste em preservar a memória das distintas comunidades e identidades que viveram na região - Cristianismo, Judaísmo e Islamismo.
