Citizens of Cannes can apply for free access to the Film Festival

The deadline is only days away, so if you live or work in the French town, do not wait any longer, apply now

The Cannes Film Festival is without any doubt among the largest events in the world of cinema. At the end of this month it returns for the 72nd edition and will gather world-renowned cinema professionals and top movie stars. Traditionally, it is organized in partnership with the local authorities of the French town and now several local citizens will get the chance to attend the official projections with free invitations.

How to participate? If you are above 18 years old, living or working in Cannes, make sure to apply online by 18 o'clock on 6th May.  The winners will be drawn and announced online or on the building of the Town Hall on 13th May and invitations will be given only after justification of residence in Cannes.

This year’s edition will take place between 14th and 25th May. The Cannes Film Festival has been organised for the first time back in 1946, but the steps leading to its establishment date to years earlier. In the context of rivalry with Venice and Biarritz, on 31st May 1939 an agreement between the town and the government was struck to give birth to the festival, finally established on the French Riviera.
