Cohesion policy co-funded project renews the Dubrovnik airport in Croatia

Workers employed is expected to increase from 447 to 676 by 2020

Cohesion policy plays a crucial role in the public investrement in Croatia. It represents a driving force for important structural changes; it helps the economy become more competitive globally, reduces disparities and promotes inclusion. The EU will continue to support Croatia's efforts to improve the quality of life of its citizens.

The rising number of tourists travelling to and from the region has put pressure on Dubrovnik Airport to serve its customers more effectively, safely and in a more environmentally friendly manner. The EU cohesion policy co-funded project has taken up a variety of renovation measures to improve the overall efficiency of the airport with safety, technical and operational standards to satisfy the requirements of the future Schengen Area. A series of environmental and energy-efficient measures were taken which ensure that the airport – part of the comprehensive Trans-European Transport Network – satisfies standards concerning, amongst others, noise protection and waste management. The number of people employed at the airport is expected to increase from 447 to 676 by 2020.
