The strategy’s goal will be to revitalize the sector and bring about a cultural revival in the city
The Constanța City Hall intends to implement a Cultural Strategy of the municipality, "Cultural Strategy of Constanța 2021-2031", which will have as a framework objective the revitalization of the city's cultural life through the creative exploitation of cultural heritage and all local sectoral resources.
A decisive role in the elaboration and implementation of this Strategy will belong to the local cultural community and public cultural institutions in the municipality and county, for carrying out a wide collective effort to enhance and capitalize on the city's huge cultural resources, by extending both its material and immaterial cultural heritage.
One of the working tools that will be used permanently in the process of developing the Strategy is the conduct of several thematic debates and public consultations, in which people of culture, representatives of public cultural institutions, experts in the field, personalities of cultural life, spiritual, artistic and academic, cultural operators, as well as other stakeholders, will have the opportunity to make recommendations and to get effectively involved in the complex process of developing the Strategy.
For the period January-February 2021, the first thematic debates of this kind will be organized, online Their first iteration took place on Friday, January 15 this year, on the occasion of celebrating the National Culture Day, online, between 10.00-12.00, entitled “Cultural strategy of Constanța municipality. Kilometer zero”. This debate was primarily intended for representatives of public cultural institutions in the municipality and county.
A second thematic debate will be organized in the first half of February this year and will be aimed primarily at local cultural operators and actors in the independent sector. Details regarding its development will be communicated publicly and sent, separately, to all cultural operators in the municipality.
Furthermore, officials are eager to discover good practices and experiences of other cities from across Romania and Europe that will help them further improve their cultural offer and in constant communication with their relevant counterparts on the subject of how best to approach the revitalization of the city’s cultural sector.
