The Danish government could land a deal with the municipalities in the capital area
Finding yourself a home as a student in Copenhagen is usually a very hard task, very often it's even mission impossible. Things could get a little easier in the future allowing aspiring youngsters to focus on their studies rather than where they might sleep at night. Around 65,700 new students are accepted for studies across the country, with the student village offering places for the students to live in, according to The Copenhagen Post. Recent figures show that around 22,000 student homes are needed nationwide, including 8,400 in Copenhagen alone. In this regard, the Danish government has revealed that it wants to guarantee student housing in Copenhagen, as is currently the case in other cities like Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg.
The issue is nothing new for Denmark, but it still might take a while for it to be resolved. The government could strike a deal with the municipalities in the area of Copenhagen, as well as with the stakeholders on the housing rental market, but it might take time to set up. The timeframe is unclear and anything being finalized by the beginning of the next semester in September is unrealistic.
