Do you know where the world’s first hotel with “self-cleaning rooms” is?

The new technology eliminates the need for harsh chemicals, creating a healthier environment for both hotel employees and customers

Use of smart technology has been growing fast – from smart phones and personal devices to smart homes, smart cars, and smart cities – becoming more a part of everyday life for many consumers. It is predicted that by 2022 smart technology will define the hospitality industry landscape as well. So it’s not a surprise that the world’s first hotel with self-cleaning rooms has just opened last month.

Copenhagen's Hotel Ottilia, housed in the former Carlsberg brewing buildings, uses automatic disinfectant cleaning technology in its rooms. ACT CleanCoat technology is а transparent, odorless substance which is activated by sunlight. In tests from national research organizations such as Denmark's National Research Centre for the Working Environment and other well-reputed laboratories around the world for the past two years, the antibacterial spray has been shown to break down microbes that range from influenza and salmonella to mould spores and allergens.

This new technology eliminates the need for harsh chemicals, creating a healthier environment for both hotel employees and customers. It helps speed up the cleaning process but more importantly it reduces water consumption.
