La nueva ley, aprobada el 30 de marzo, hace que la norma sea obligatoria en los espacios públicos
A día de hoy, las personas en España deben usar una máscara cada vez que salen en público, sin importar las distancias que se mantengan de otras personas. Eso incluye playas, parques, bosques, aceras, incluso si no hay otras personas a la vista. La nueva y dura medida se introdujo como ley el 30 de marzo, se publicó en el Boletín Oficial del Estado y se basa en las medidas existentes.
La medida del gobierno central fue impulsada por un aumento en las infecciones en los últimos 14 días de 128 casos a 149 casos por cada 100.000 personas. Eso, y la reciente afluencia de jóvenes europeos atraídos por el clima cálido y la situación más indulgente en lugares como Madrid, han enfurecido a los lugareños, que por otro lado ya estaban ansiosos por los próximos cierres regionales de Semana Santa.
Sin embargo, existen algunas excepciones a la regla. Las personas que practican deportes, como trotar, no tendrán que usar una máscara. Lo mismo ocurre con las personas que tienen problemas de salud que les dificultan la respiración o con las personas discapacitadas que necesitan ayuda.
Naturalmente, siguen vigentes las normas anteriores sobre el uso de máscaras en espacios cerrados. Sin embargo, muchos se han preguntado qué significará eso para los casos, como bares y restaurantes con asientos al aire libre. No se han aclarado las reglas sobre si las personas podrán consumir alimentos y bebidas y quitarse las máscaras.
Dado que se trata de una ley nacional, se aplicará a todo el territorio del país ibérico, lo que significa que los gobiernos regionales no tendrán voz en modificarla a sus propias especificaciones. Hasta ahora, diferentes regiones habían estado sujetas a diferentes restricciones. Por ejemplo, en Galicia y Valencia las mascarillas ya eran obligatorias en los espacios públicos, pero no en Cataluña o Andalucía.
