Les villes françaises de Paris, Lille, Clermont-Ferrand, Nantes et Grenoble ont interdit l'utilisation de pesticides, comme annoncé jeudi. Les villes déclarent être fortement impliquées dans la protection de l'environnement et l'adaptation au changement climatique; il s’agit donc d’une des mesures concrètes et rapides prises au niveau local pour renforcer la résilience des territoires et protéger la santé de leurs habitants.
Depuis 1er janvier 2019, une interdiction nationale de la vente de pesticides aux particuliers est en vigueur en France, mais il y a longtemps que des actions locales visant à limiter l'utilisation de produits phytosanitaires chimiques ont été entreprises. À Paris, par exemple, l'utilisation de pesticides dans les parcs et jardins publics a été suspendue en 2008 et la ville incite les particuliers à s'abstenir de les utiliser également.
En plus de l'interdiction, les villes lanceront des campagnes d'information sur les produits alternatifs à utiliser pour l'entretien des espaces verts et des jardins privés. Comme a expliqué la maire de Paris Anne Hidalgo sur Facebook, un kit Zéro-pesticides a été développé à l’aide des habitants ain de leur permettre de jardiner sans pesticides.
L'utilisation de pesticides est associée à des émissions nocives et à la contamination du sol, de l'eau et de la végétation.
