Gian Francesco Lupattelli è il Presidente della Federazione delle Capitali e delle Città Europee dello Sport (ACES). ACES Europe è un'associazione senza scopo di lucro con sede a Bruxelles, che assegna ogni anno dal 2001 i riconoscimenti di Capitale, Città e Comunità Europa dello Sport. ACES Europe è riconosciuta dalla Commissione Europea nel Libro Bianco.
Dal punto di vista della Sua lunga esperienza, come apprezza il coinvolgimento dei sindaci europei in eventi ed iniziative sportive?
Anno per anno l'impegno delle città con lo sport diventa sempre più grande. Un buon segnale è che la partecipazione dei cittadini alle attività sportive aumenta di anno in anno. Questo è un buon risultato grazie anche al coinvolgimento sempre più grande dei sindaci e dei responsabili politici nell'attività fisica e lo sport.
Quali requisiti deve soddisfare una città per ottenere il riconoscimento di Capitale europeo dello sport?
La valutazione si fa sulla base di 10 criteri, come partecipazione sportiva, le infrastrutture, gli investimenti, la gestione, la promozione ... e i candidati devono avere un risultato elevato (da 75 punti su 100 e anche in più a seconda della categoria).
Considerete che i cittadini europei abbiano facile accesso agli impianti e luoghi sportivi?
Le autorità locali dovrebbero migliorare un po 'questo aspetto dando ancora più opportunità alle persone inattive di praticare sport con libero accesso. Più spesso, la città e le amministrazioni locali sono il primo passo e contatto delle persone con lo sport. Il modo più semplice per avere accesso allo sport da risultati migliori.
Quest'anno, La Capitale Europea dello Sport è Sofia, racconta cosa di aspettare?
Sofia ha fatto un lavoro straordinario negli ultimi 3 anni. Hanno lavorato per la Capitale Europea dello Sport con molto impegno e passione. Grazie mille ad Andrey Kovatchev che ha sempre creduto nelle possibilità di Sofia e di Bulgaria. Grazie anche al sindaco Yordanka Fandukova e Anatoly Iliev che sta sviluppando un programma completo con attività per la città durante 2018.
Cosa ne pensa di una piattaforma unificata per i comuni europei, come TheMayor.eu, ll quale principale obiettivo è quello di rendere e mantenere i cittadini europei meglio informati su ciò che sta accadendo nell'Unione europea?
Congratulazioni per il progetto a la piattaforma. Diffondere i valori europei con iniziative come questa è molto utile e ci rende più forti come cittadini europei sotto la stessa bandiera.
