It’s not for the faint-hearted
It features the national symbol and an embossed hologram
On 9 February, Česká Mincovna (Czech Mint) set a new national record by producing a 10-kilogram gold coin worth CZK 14 million (EUR 574,280). The investment coin bears the country’s symbol, the Czech Lion, as well as an embossed hologram in the shape of a shield.
Production Director Stanislav Bachtík discussed the work of Czech Mint, explaining: “We mint high-weight hologram coins with the help of a special hydraulic press, which was designed specifically for this purpose. It is the only machine of its kind in the world – no other press has such a configuration and technical parameters.”
Czech Mint is reportedly the fourth in the world to produce a coin of this weight.
See the gallery above for photographs of the coin and how it was produced.
