To mark the International Day of Light, the Czech capital lit up its Charles Bridge on Friday and Saturday last week. More specifically, laser beams with the colours of the Ukrainian flag commemorated the work of the American physicist Theodore Maiman, who invented the world’s first laser 62 years ago, on 16 May 1960.
The light installations were organised by ELI Beamlines in collaboration with the Laser Research Centre SignalFestival.
