La web municipal de Gandia informó que, un año más, el Ayuntamiento y la Cofradía de Pescadores están organizando una campaña de recogida de medusas en las aguas adyacentes a las playas de Gandia durante los meses de verano. Los primeros barcos en realizar estas acciones de limpieza partieron el 10 de julio y finalizarán sus operaciones el 12 de septiembre.
En cuanto a la asignación de embarcaciones, la concejala de Pesca, Alícia Izquierdo, explicó que el jueves 8 de julio se realizó un sorteo. Esto fue para determinar cómo los 16 barcos pesqueros que se han sumado a la campaña realizarían 25 viajes en diferentes turnos coordinados por el Gremio.
Respecto a la iniciativa, el responsable de Pesca ha agradecido a la Cofradía de Pescadores su compromiso de sumarse una vez más a la campaña que, además, “ayuda a garantizar la limpieza de las playas, especialmente en temporada turística”.
Por su parte, el presidente de la Junta del Distrito de El Grau, Miguel Ángel Picornell, ha dicho que “el convenio tiene muchas ventajas para el sector pesquero y turístico: el primero, genera un dinero extra muy necesario tras el daño económico provocado por el Covid- Crisis del 19. Y en segundo lugar, los usuarios de nuestras playas se deshacen de las molestas picaduras de medusas”.
