Gdansk offers free drive-through coronavirus tests

Have yourselves tested without leaving your car

As of this week, it is possible to have yourselves tested for coronavirus without leaving your car in Gdansk. The first venue in the Polish city where this can be done was opened on Monday 27 April at the Energa Gdańsk Stadium. What is more, the facility is barely the second of its kind in the entire Pomerania region, with a similar one already been opened on 11 April in Gdynia.

Tests for Covid-19 taken within minutes

Albeit free, the drive-through tests in Gdansk are not available for everyone who wants to be tested. In order to get one, you need to show symptoms, of course. Whether or not you qualify for testing will be determined during a preliminary registration over the phone, which is mandatory.

Should the patient’s responses indicate the possibility of coronavirus infection, he or she will be invited to the testing centre with their personal vehicle. Patients should not leave the car while being tested and will receive their results at home over the phone.

The city of Gdansk reminds that people who have a fever above 38˚C and a cough, observe a loss of taste and smell or think that they may have become infected with coronavirus, can be tested. Should they be able to arrive by car, they can call the helpline.

The COVID-19 UCK drive-thru test centre is open Monday to Friday from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and on weekends from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. You can register by calling the University Clinical Center hotline 58 727 05 05 from Monday to Friday from 9.00-15.00 and on weekends from 9.00 to 12.00.

Being able to test as many people as possible is essential in the effective fight against coronavirus. Thanks to the new mobile testing point, the city can now conduct almost 70 tests a day which certainly enables it to better face the extraordinary health situation.
