Get ready for a week of the best Polish music and shows organised by students for students
The arrival of May might well be associated with spring, nice weather, vacations, even finals by many of us, but for students in Poland it surely means one thing: Juwenalia festival is looming on the horizon. This annual event has become a tradition in Poland by giving another great opportunity for youngsters to enjoy quality time together. Every year during May or at the beginning of June in several big Polish cities you have the opportunity to attend the holiday dedicated to higher education students, although the name of the festival might change depending on the college or university that organizes it. Alongside the good music, foods and drinks an inseparable part of the festival activities is the march from the university campuses towards the city centre, where students are handed over the key to the city’s gates by the mayor. Could it become even better? Yes, of course: during the festival period students are usually exempt from classes.
And although in some cities the 2019 edition of Juwenalia has already passed, the best for this year is yet to come: Juwenalia Krakowskie is to take place between 21st and 26th May in Krakow. Interestingly, the old Polish capital is where it all began in the XVth century as the first similar youth festival was organized here. So, to wrap it up, if you want to enjoy the best Polish music bands and side events organized by students for students hesitate no more: save the date for Juwenalia.
More than 35 artists have been announced so far. Check out the full list and more information about one of the most highly anticipated student events in Poland at this link.
