La ropa vieja en esta región recibirá el tratamiento de Upcycling
La web provincial de Gipuzkoa (País Vasco) informó que tiene previsto ampliar el proyecto UPCYCLING con la implantación de un contenedor recolector de ropa especializado en el Centro Comercial Urbil de Usurbil. La iniciativa tiene como objetivo algo más que extender la vida útil de los textiles usados. Cuenta con la colaboración del centro de formación AEG Ikastetxea, cuyos alumnos utilizarán los materiales para sus futuros diseños, provocando en cierto sentido la circularidad en la industria de la moda.
El upcycling es el proceso que permite obtener un producto de mayor valor que si el producto simplemente se recicla. En este caso, las prendas de vestir o textiles se transforman en una prenda nueva y de moda, gracias al trabajo de los diseñadores.
Este proyecto comenzó hace cuatro años cuando se instaló un contenedor de ropa en el Centro Comercial Garbera. En sus cuatro 'ediciones' allí recogió más de 7 toneladas de ropa, hasta que la pandemia de Covid paralizó la iniciativa.
Ahora, con el reinicio, durante dos meses los ciudadanos pueden depositar prendas o material textil que ya no utilicen, dando así una segunda vida a estas prendas y tejidos. Con los materiales recogidos, los alumnos de la escuela de moda AEG Ikastetxea realizarán nuevos diseños que serán presentados en la sexta edición del desfile Moda Sostenible, que tendrá lugar el próximo noviembre en el Palacio de Miramar.
Según José Ignacio Asensio, diputado de Medio Ambiente de Gipuzkoa, el éxito del proyecto demuestra "el alto grado de conciencia ambiental de la ciudadanía" destacando el "fantástico" trabajo de los estudiantes de diseño. También ha destacado la aportación del proyecto Upcycling como “un proyecto que muestra el camino para crear riqueza y empleo en Gipuzkoa de forma sostenible”.
“Esta iniciativa surgió con la finalidad de sensibilizar al sector de la moda y también a la ciudadanía y creo que en Gipuzkoa estamos dando pasos importantes en esta dirección”, ha concluido.
