Good and useful: donate your old bicycle to a good cause

Good and useful: donate your old bicycle to a good cause

Copenhagen Municipality offers several great options

Copenhagen Municipality has good news for all the owners of old or unwanted bikes – it offers plenty of options to people looking to offload them and even donate them to worthy causes. In the Danish capital already boasts loads of bicycle shops, organisations and non-profit projects looking to receive an old bike, while recycling stations are also ready to take it. You can also put your old bike out for ‘stor skrald’ (big rubbish pick-up) with a stick on with a message to be picked up by waste management.

To help and facilitate citizens Copenhagen Municipality has produced an interactive map of locations where locals can offload the old bicycles including information on what they will be used for. For example, Randersgade School in Østerbro district is collecting bicycles for a project for the school kids, while Basisikeli in Vesterbro is receiving old bikes to renovate them and then send them to Africa. Of course, there is always the option to bring it to the local recycling station in Amager. The choice remains yours - the important thing is for your decision to be good for the society as well as the environment.
