Improving health, well-being and educational achievement among school children in London
Healthy Schools London is an Awards Programme that will reach out to every London child, working with schools to improve children and young people's well-being. There are now more than 2000 London schools signed up to Healthy Schools London. The aim of the program is wider than just giving a healthier food for lunch to the kids. Schools can help children learn about their health, and develop their motivation and self respect to make healthy choices.
There are three levels of award that schools can receive. The bronze require completing either the Local Healthy Schools Review or the Healthy Schools London Review Tool. The silver depend upon having already achieved bronze level and in addition to this to undertake an analysis of pupils’ needs, and identify new actions that will help pupils achieve and maintain good health and wellbeing. To receive the highest recognition– the gold award, besides having already the silver one, schools need to show the impact of the changes they have made and that these are sustainable and actually engage the wider community, and support others to help children maintain a healthy weight, healthy lifestyle and wellbeing.
