Liberec hosts festival promoting inclusion and diversity

“Liberec – one city for all” will take place on 27 August

This Friday, the City of Liberec invites all residents to attend the 10th edition of its festival of foreigners and national minorities: “Liberec – one city for all”. At this event, the Czech city will celebrate different cultures and promote the importance of inclusion and diversity.

Residents will have the opportunity to view interesting cultural performances by various communities and taste foreign delicacies. Due to the current epidemiological situation, food will be served in pre-packed tasting boxes to guarantee the safety of visitors. Taking this further, the boxes will also be made from ecologically degradable packaging material as the city seeks to make more environmentally friendly choices.

An example of good practice

Numerous organisations have come together to host the “Liberec – one city for all” festival. That is, the event is co-organised by the Community Centre Kontakt and the Centre for the Support of Integration of Foreigners in the Liberec Region. Furthermore, the Liberec Region and the City of Liberec are also providing financial support. For this reason, Deputy Governors Petr Tulpa and Dan Ramzer and Deputy Mayor Ivan Langr will attend this year’s festival.

The co-organisers shared their views on the upcoming event in a press release by the Czech city. More specifically, Kontakt Director Michael Dufek expresses his satisfaction with organising such a festival, noting that more partners come together every year to support its meaningful cause:

“There are also more and more foreign communities who see the importance and need to present their culture and customs, even though they have lived here with us for many years. I believe that this is the way to mutual understanding, especially in these turbulent times,” Dufek highlighted.

Similarly, the head of the Liberec Centre for the Support of the Integration of Foreigners, Žaneta Kaprasová, explained that the 2021 festival will feature over 13 communities. According to Kaprasová, this event sets an example of good practice and presents the city as an accepting and welcoming place for all.

“Liberec – one city for all” will take place on 27 August at the Dr. E. Beneš square from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
