Lombardy now has an ‘educational’ restaurant

It is affiliated with a local hospitality training centre and aims to put students in real working environment

On 1 June, the Didaktico restaurant opened doors in the municipality of Casargo, in the northern Italian region of Lombardy. What makes this establishment different is that it is meant as a practice ground for students at the Hotel Professional Training Centre (Cfpa) in the same town.

It is described as an ‘educational’ restaurant, yet this is where all allusions to inexperience end. The place presents itself as a high-quality dining establishment aiming to provide a superb and locally sourced gourmet experience to its guests.

A proper start to a career in a demanding and competitive field

The location of the former Porticciolo 84 has been totally renovated in order to create the new restaurant. The interiors are warm and welcoming to make diners feel as if they are in an elegant living room. A mix of classic elements combined with modern prints makes 'Didaktico' an innovative place that reflects the creativity and freshness that young students are expected to bring.

The restaurant offers fish cuisine combined with typical products of the Lecco province area. Great attention is paid to seasonality, as is the trend with contemporary establishments.

The menu, therefore, changes continuously, adapting to the availability of products and the creativity of chef Fabio Moriconi. Together with Restaurant manager Mauro Ferrari and Maître d’ Francesco Borghetti, he coordinates the students of the Cfpa School in the kitchen and in the dining room.

That the opening of this place was an important event was attested by the presence of officials, such as Melania Rizzoli, the regional councillor for Training and Work, Mauro Gattinoni, the mayor of Lecco and Antonio Pasquini, the mayor of Casargo.

“I am particularly proud of the result achieved by Cfpa Casargo. The opening of the new educational restaurant demonstrates the liveliness of the regional training system and confirms the benefit of our investments," commented on the occasion Councillor Rizzoli.
