Cubo Gym Madrid, the portable gym which can be gathered in a cube-like ship container, is back in Madrid following a successful try-out in 2021. Initially, 3 cube gyms will operate from 1 August in three different locations: El Retiro park, Madrid Río and El Cañaveral park. Later on, however, another 25 of these cubes will be installed in 17 districts of the Spanish capital bringing the possibility to practice quality fitness outdoors to all residents.
"With the expansion of this activity we continue to bring sports closer to all Madrid residents, taking it out to our city's parks to promote a healthy way of life,” explained Sofia Miranda, the Delegate Councilor for Sport in the city, taking into account the importance that "the practice of sports has acquired outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Cubo Gym Madrid is a functional training class service carried out in a 'portable gym'. An adapted and modified ship cargo container that has been converted into a gym with everything necessary for training sessions, and that is designed to be moved in a planned manner to different points according to need. Councilor Miranda also explained that, in commitment to sustainability in sport, "the container is equipped with solar panels that make it an energy self-sufficient unit".
At the cube gyms, there will be directed sessions of functional training from Monday to Sunday with a duration of one hour per session. Classes will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the morning shift and from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the evening.
Cubo Gym Madrid can be used by all those over 15 years of age who want to register for the sessions, which will have a capacity of 20 people. They may be reserved for training groups and may be made available for free tutored use.
Seat reservations can be made at the 'Madrid Móvil' App or from the sports section on the municipal website. Holders of the Madrid Sports Pass will be able to access the sessions at no additional cost.
