The 2020 MASP awards ceremony was held virtually
The Covid-19 pandemic did not deter Maltese architects and designers from working on quality projects throughout 2020. Some of these endeavours received due recognition at the 2020 Malta Architecture and Spatial Planning Awards (MASP) ceremony, which was held virtually for the first time, reported TVM.
Organized by the Planning Authority under the patronage of the President of Malta, the annual awards give acknowledgement to authors of quality projects that help raise awareness of the value of architecture and foster a culture of excellence. For the latest edition of the awards, the Planning Authority received record 70 submissions in ten categories, with a university student earning a place among the winners.
The Rehabilitation and Conservation Award wеnt to Camilleri Paris Mode design and projects studio, which brought Villa La Fiorentina – an impressive centennial house abandoned for the last 30 years – back to life.

Spiteri for his contribution to architecture, especially in the building of the primary school of St. Julian's, social housing projects and the John F. Kennedy monument.
In a message to award nominees and winners, President George Vella said he believes architects and spatial planners are agents of change, whose duty it is to preserve what we have while ensuring that our future generations can look back and thank us for the right and timely decisions.
