La semana pasada, el sitio web municipal de Mérida informó al público que se había completado un segundo circuito de psicomotricidad en esa ciudad. Ubicado en el Parque de la Argentina, representa un circuito de dibujos, que estimulan la imaginación para moverse. Todo lo cual se deriva de la teoría de que el aprendizaje y el crecimiento de los jóvenes no pueden suceder de manera óptima si no hay actividad física involucrada.
Aprender, volverse más inteligente o más maduro está lejos de ser un tema que solo involucre abarrotar libros y estudiar en el portátil. Muchas de las adquisiciones cognitivas que atravesamos en nuestras vidas ocurren por medios no verbales, comenzando con nuestra capacidad para gatear y caminar. Al principio es difícil hasta que deja de serlo y ya ni siquiera pensamos en ello cuando lo hacemos: el conocimiento se almacena en algún lugar profundo de nuestros huesos y músculos.
Enfrentando una temporada estival de ocio, el Ayuntamiento de Mérida ha emprendido una iniciativa educativa que pone el acento en la promoción del juego. Jugar de forma que excluya el sexismo o la violencia, y deje espacio para la imaginación, la creatividad, la cooperación, el respeto y la tolerancia.
Como señaló la delegada municipal de Participación Ciudadana, Ana Aragoneses, “no solo los juguetes son importantes en la educación infantil, también lo son los juegos”. Por ello, el Ayuntamiento ha apostado por la instalación de circuitos ilustrados de psicomotricidad urbana, dirigidos a todos los públicos. Jugar con ellos está destinado a desarrollar habilidades motoras, expresivas y creativas, basadas en el cuerpo y la mente, de una manera libre y no específica de género.
Los dos circuitos (el primero en el Parque de las VII Sillas) tienen una superficie de unos 30 metros. Fueron pintados por el artista local Ironeva y las autoridades tienen planes de crearlos también en otros distritos.
