Munich hosts exhibition focused on promoting cycling

“FAHR RAD! The reconquest of the city” is stopping in the Bavarian capital to discuss and promote the advantages of cycling

Droves of transport experts and hundreds of cycling aficionados will be gathering in Munich to discuss the advantages of using bikes in the stead of cars and to promote different approaches to making cities more sustainable and active.

The exhibition “FAHR RAD! The reconquest of the city” is organized by the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) from Frankfurt am Main and will be stopping in the Bavarian capital to host numerous events, discussions and panels with renowned speakers.

Collaborating and exchanging good ideas to better cities

The exhibition is meant to highlight good practices and showcase perfect examples of urban development and sustainable mobility achieved thanks to the close relations between local governments and their citizens. The organizers believe that the input of locals and their ideas are vital to the creation of well-functioning and welcoming urban mobilty systems in the cities.

The exhibits on display and up for discussions come from other European cities like Barcelona, Copenhagen and Oslo. Local from Munich will have to opportunity to explore the best ideas from these cities and deliberate on how they can be implemented in their local setting.

The event as a whole is spread out across three venues on different dates with the 2nd part of the exhibition starting on 15 October at Odeonsplatz. The 3rd and final opportunity to take part in the talks in Munich will be between 22 and 24 October at Wiener Platz.

Furthermore, local authorities are organising bike tours of the city, with the first such tour taking place on 16 October at 4PM. It will be focused on showcasing Munich’s cycling infrastructure.
